Accessibility
Last updated: August 2026
Your Future Compass Ltd is committed to making yourfuturecompass.co.uk (the marketing site, guides and free calculator) and the Your Future Compass app accessible to as many people as possible.
Our target standard
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, level AA.
How we test
- Automated scanning with axe-core (WCAG 2.1 A + AA rule set) via Playwright, covering the signed-in app screen by screen (20 tabs) as well as the public pages. The most recent full scan (19 August 2026) reported zero violations; the scan is re-runnable on every release.
- A contrast check that runs on every build, which fails the build if any theme colour that may carry text drops below 4.5:1 on any background it can sit on, or if a form-control border drops below 3:1. This exists because a scan is a snapshot: the palette was replaced in July 2026 and the June scan's clean result quietly stopped describing the product. The build check cannot go stale in that way.
- Manual checks of keyboard navigation, focus states and colour contrast during development. The app supports light and dark modes and respects reduced-motion preferences.
- Semantic structure throughout: headings, labels, ARIA roles on interactive controls (tab bars, toggles, search), and text descriptions on charts.
Known limitations
We're honest about where the experience is harder, and what we provide instead.
- Charts. The projection, income and cashflow charts are visual. Every chart has an accessible text description, and the underlying figures are always available in table form: the year-by-year Cash Flow table carries the same data as the charts.
- Complex tables on small screens. Wide tables, such as the cashflow ledger, scroll horizontally on phones. The same information is available on larger screens without scrolling, and the key figures are summarised in cards above the table on mobile.
- PDF exports. The plan report and downloadable guides are generated PDFs. They use real text rather than images, with headings, but have not been separately audited against PDF/UA.
Feedback and contact
If any part of the site or app is hard for you to use, or you need information from it in a different format, contact hello@yourfuturecompass.co.uk. We'll respond within 5 working days and do our best to help, and reports of accessibility problems are prioritised as bugs.
Enforcement
We are a private company, so the public-sector accessibility regulations don't apply to us and this statement is voluntary. If you're not happy with how we respond to an accessibility concern, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) advises on the Equality Act 2010.
