2. Not financial advice

Your Future Compass is an illustration and guidance tool only. It does not provide regulated financial, investment, tax or legal advice, and is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Projections are illustrative, based on assumptions and the figures you enter, and are not a guarantee of future outcomes. Always consult a suitably qualified, regulated adviser before making decisions about your pensions, investments or finances.

3. Eligibility and your responsibilities

4. Your account

You may close your account at any time from your account settings. When you do, we handle your personal data as described in our Privacy Notice. You are responsible for activity that takes place under your account.

5. Paid plans

Core features of the service are free. We also offer paid features ("paid plan"). Where you take a paid plan:

6. Assumptions and limitations

Projections rely on modelling assumptions (e.g. investment returns, inflation, tax rules) that are simplifications of a complex and changing reality. Tax rules and allowances change. Actual outcomes will differ, potentially significantly. We do not warrant that results are accurate, complete or suitable for your circumstances.

7. Intellectual property

The service, including its software, design, content and the "Your Future Compass" name and branding, belongs to us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own planning in accordance with these terms. You retain ownership of the information you enter; you grant us the licence needed to process and store it so we can provide the service, as described in our Privacy Notice.

8. Availability

We aim to keep the service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or withdraw features at any time. Where a change materially reduces a paid feature you are using, we will give you reasonable notice and, where appropriate, a pro-rata refund.

9. Our liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which require us to provide the service with reasonable care and skill.

Subject to that, and because the service provides illustrative projections only and is not financial advice (see section 2):

10. Privacy

Our handling of your personal data is described in our Privacy Notice.

11. Suspension and termination by us

We may suspend or end your access to the service if you materially breach these terms (for example, by misusing the service). Where it is reasonable to do so, we will give you notice and an opportunity to put things right first. Sections 2 (Not financial advice), 6 (Assumptions and limitations), 7 (Intellectual property), 9 (Our liability) and 13 (Governing law) continue to apply after your use of the service ends.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. For minor changes, the updated terms apply when posted here. For changes that materially affect your rights, we will give you reasonable advance notice (by email or in-app) before they take effect, and, if you are on a paid plan and do not accept the change, you may cancel and receive a pro-rata refund of any unused period.

13. Governing law, jurisdiction and complaints

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your home jurisdiction, and nothing in these terms affects your mandatory local consumer rights. If you have a complaint, please contact us first at privacy@yourfuturecompass.co.uk and we will try to resolve it.

14. General

If any part of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest remain in force. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another organisation, but this will not affect your rights; you may not transfer yours without our consent. We are not liable for failures caused by events outside our reasonable control. These terms, together with our Privacy Notice, are the entire agreement between us about your use of the service.
